Historically significant experience
Very interesting museum- fun stop!
I went in a skeptic, came out a TRUE BELIEVER! I knew there was history behind barbed wire, but I didn't know there was this much of a history behind it. Thousands and thousands of patents with changes that sound insignificant, then you see the massive exhibits...and you can see how many ways there are to twist and knot a wire. It's mind blowing. And so many of them from one obsessive mind, Joseph Glidden. I didn't know who he was before today, and I doubt more than a fe...w know it now. We read about the gold rushes of the Old West, but we never read about the barbed wire rush. Thousands of inventor's options, all being pushed into the market, all trying to find their share, their fortune. After a visit to the Kansas Barbed Wire Museum, I dare you to drive the state and county roads, not only in Kansas, but all of the country, and not look at the prickly wires, rustedly stapled or coiled around a leaning piece of osage orange, or limestore post, and wonder....[Full review]
